Mindy Kaling's Model Mom

I read something recently that was very touching. I read that Mindy Kaling's late mother was a doctor.  If you watch the show The Mindy Project, Mindy's character is a doctor, too.  I am guessing that this is an ode  to her mother.  It's brought a little more depth and poignancy to a show that postures as a comedy with a little drama, but not a full-on dramedy. Great way to appreciate a role model.
