PRAYING FOR SOUTH KOREA

MY PRAYERS GO OUT TO SOUTH KOREA DURING THIS DIFFICULT TIME.   I AM SO SORRY FOR THE LOSS OF SO MUCH LIFE ON THAT FERRY.
I HAVE WRITTEN TWO BOOKS ABOUT KOREA THAT SPEAK OF MY LOVE FOR THIS COUNTRY.
MANY STUDENTS THAT I TAUGHT IN KOREA WOULD TALK ABOUT THEIR YEARLY TRAVEL TO JEJU ISLAND WITH THEIR FAMILIES.  IT WAS A NORMAL, ROUTINE FERRY RIDE AND THAT ' S WHAT MAKES THIS ACCIDENT SO SHOCKING.

GOD BLESS.

CHRIS EVANS AND CAPTAIN AMERICA - THE WINTER SOLDIER - LOVED IT!

I LOVED THE NEW CAPTAIN AMERICA - THE WINTER SOLDIER!

I think it's better than the other Avenger/Thor Series because the story was much tighter and more resonant in terms of contemporary paranoia.  I feel that The Avengers movie was more about the characters hanging out and getting to know each other, but was very light on plot and for things that Captain America could do.  He seemed to be just tagging along in the other movie.  Besides, in the first few Marvel movies (with or without Captain America) Tom Hiddleston really stole the show as Loki.  He was villanous deliciousness.  He was the most fascinating character up to this point.  But this movie changes everything!

I like the first Captain America because it had a sort of tongue-in-cheek wit about the times that this character inhabited before he went into his deep freeze into the 21st century.

Now, let's be clear:  It doesn't hurt that Chris Evans is smoking hot as Captain America.  He has a mega-watt grin., steel blue eyes, pecs for days, and the cutest and tightest butt ever! Can you tell I'm sweating?! :-)

But the real reason this second Captain A movie is good is that the story grips you and there is a diverse cast of superheroes.  It tells the story of how Captain America has to grow up and realize that the world has changed and good guys and villains aren't always that easy to tell apart.  Samuel L. Jackson's character, Nick Fury, tried to warn him, but Cap had to find out the hard way. Yet, Captain A stays true to himself and refuses to lower his standards.  He shows more aggression and fighting prowess in this movie, too.  He's not just a poster boy.  There was definitely more thought put into this thriller.  Congratulations to Mr. Evans for hitting the big leagues!

I would definitely suggest for you to - TRY IT!

MY FAVES - BIG BOOTY BREAD AND BAKERY

West 23rd Street, near 8th Avenue (northeast side of the street)

If you are a  regular reader, you know I love Magnolia Bakery.  Well, move over Magnolia because another bakery is grabbing my fickle affections, very hard!

  • It's called BIG BOOTY BREAD AND BAKERY.  I took my big booty there and was instantly captivated by the peanut butter and chocolate cupcake.  Where other chocolate cupcakes I have tried in other places were a bit on the dry side for me, this bakery had it just right, nice and moist!  They placed a filling of peanut butter in the center.  It was topped with a cloud-like vanilla peanut butter frosting.  Fantastic!  Thank you, BIG BOOTY!

SOFT, DECADENT, CREAMY, SWEET, AND ADDICTIVE!

TRY IT!
