A VERY BRIEF REVIEW: RE -EVALUATING YOUR CHILDHOOD THROUGH THE MOVIE EIGHTH GRADE

RE -EVALUATING YOUR CHILDHOOD THROUGH THE MOVIE "EIGHTH GRADE"

My niece is growing up fast and needs to know about the pitfalls of life in middle school. So,we went to the movie "Eighth Grade". A co-host from the view took her 12 year old daughter, which is the same age as my niece.

What I discovered was that the movie actually inspired me to re-evaluate my days in eighth grade.  I loved my eighth grade year: I was popular, involved in drama, and loved my friends and classes.  In contrast., the main character in this film was a complete emotional mess.  The story takes us through her awkward journey through self discovery, growth, and acceptance. It made me re-evaluate those years and think of how difficult small things to us now could really cause us serious emotional difficulty at that time in our lives, before we knew how strong and wonderful we could truly be.

There were issues that really resonated with some serious talks that we had to have with my niece about peer pressure/boys.

I recommend this movie to anyone with a child in middle or high school.  Either you watch it with your child or watch it on your own to help you understand what they could be going through and have some frank conversations.

So, if you want re-evaluate your upper grade days or need a review to help you understand teenage angst, then........TRY IT!!!!!!!!!!

AFTERNOON TEA AT TEA AND SYMPATHY

TEA AND SYMPATHY RESTAURANT
108 GREENWICH AVENUE, NYC

I have gone to many afternoon teas/high teas. The best one by far is the afternoon tea at Tea and Sympathy in the West Village in New York City.

I love it because they give you generous portions, not the amuse bouche of many of these events.  They serve it until 6pm and you get so much.  You have a choice of 3 finger sandwiches, scones, clotted cream, strawberry jam, cupcakes, cake, and a huge pot of tea in one of their decorative and creative teapots! You can mix the various teas to create your own unique tea. I always mix vanilla with some sort of fruit-based tea.

They also have a store that is next door which sells European food items.

It's plenty of food and it's plenty good!  So, if you want a delicious afternoon/high tea that leaves you feeling pleasantly full (you'll probably leave with a leftover bag like me), then.......TRY IT!!!!!!
