IN CONNECTION TO MY FOND MEMORIES OF SOUTH KOREA, I GO TO A SHOP THAT I FIRST ENTERED IN THAT COUNTRY - PARIS BAGUETTE!
IT HAS THEIR VERSION OF THE CRONUT, WHICH I THINK THEY JUST CALL A CROISSANT DOUGHNUT.
AS THE NAME SUGGESTS, IT IS A FRENCH STYLE BAKERY WITH SOME KOREAN TWISTS. THERE ARE TRADITIONAL TREATS, BUT THERE ARE SOME KOREAN FAVORITES LIKE SWEET BEAN PASTE ITEMS AND SHAVED ICE DESSERTS (WHEN IN SEASON).
WHEN I FIRST WENT TO SOUTH KOREA, I WOULD ALWAYS GO TO PARIS BAGUETTE FOR BREAKFAST AND STOP BY AFTER WORK TO GET MYSELF A TREAT. WHEN I RETURNED TO AMERICA AND NEW YORK'S KOREA TOWN, I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND OUT THAT THERE WAS NOT A PARIS BAGUETTE! A FEW YEARS LATER, MY PLACE ARRIVED HERE IN NEW YORK. I HAVE BEEN FREQUENTING IT IN MANY PLACES AROUND THE CITY, AS THEY HAVE ADDED LOCATIONS IN THE PAST FEW YEARS.
THE OTHER LOCATION THAT I FIND VERY COZY IS THE ONE ON THE UPPER WEST SIDE.
I HAPPENED UPON IT BY ACCIDENT AND WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED. IF YOU LOOK THROUGH THE WINDOW, YOU WOULD THINK THAT IT ONLY HAD A RETAIL SPACE WITHOUT A LOUNGE. OH, NO! YOU HAVE TO GO IN AND UP A SHORT FLIGHT OF STAIRS AND YOU WILL SEE A VERY NICE EATING LOUNGE SECTION THAT COULD MAKE YOU STAY FOR QUITE AWHILE. IT HAS MANY TABLES AND COUCHES. I WAS SO COMFORTABLE THAT I LOST TRACK OF TIME!
JUST LIKE CAFFE BENE, IT HAS WONDERFUL DESSERTS, BEVERAGES (HOT AND COLD), AND SAVORY FOOD, LIKE SANDWICHES.
SO, IF THIS COFFEE SHOP LOOKS LIKE YOUR CUP OF TEA, THEN........
