THE NEW BATMAN OR BOND?????? OMAR SY

 

I WATCHED THIS EUROPEAN SERIES, WHICH I THINK IS IN FRANCE.  IT'S CALLED LUPIN,.  I KNOW FRENCH,  SO I ENJOYED WATCHING THE MOUTHS AND THE DUBS, TO SEE HOW THEY TRANSLATED THE WORDS,

WELL IN ANY CASE THE MAIN CHARACTER, ASSANE, WAS PLAYED BY A MAN WHO COULD BE THE NEXT BATMAN OR JAMES BOND. HE'S POWERFUL AND SMOOTH. HE IS COCKY. HE WOULD B E PERFECT FOR EITHER ROLE.  HOWEVER, THE PICTURE IS NOT ENOUGH, YOU HAVE TO SEE HIS ACTING. I KEPT THINKING HE COULD BE THE NEXT IDRIS ELBA!

HE WOULD BRING A NEW AND REAL GRAVITAS TO EACH ROLE. I LOVE DANIEL CRAIG AS BOND, BUT HE'S MOVING ON AFTER SHAKING UP THE ROLE. THIS NEW GUY WOULD HAVE THE SAME EFFECT, WHOSE NAME IS OMAR SY. HE MADE THE STORY SO COMPELLING!

HE 'S GOT IT. SO IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN EXPERIENCING THIS UBER ACTOR, YOU SHOULD LOOK SY  AND LUPIN UP ON NETFLIX.  TRY IT!!!!!!!!!!!

KOREA IS FUN AND EXCITING!
As many of you know, I really love South Korea and wanted to make a show about my experiences. That country changed my life! It gave me many exciting and phenomenal experiences that gave me a courage and belief in myself that was transforming.

I have written two books about South Korea, focusing on Seoul and nearby locations.  One book is an adult guide to Korea called, “Bougie in Korea”.  My second is a photograph and informational book for children called, “My Summer in Korea”.    See a synopsis for each book below:

1)      Bougie in Korea: My Guide to South Korea (For Adults) – Book 2 in the Life of Bougie Series

This is a love letter to Korea.  It is part fiction and nonfiction.   The nonfiction part is a guide that talks about different things you can do, see, and eat in Seoul, Korea.  It is taken from my point of view of what I saw and did.  It also shares views about what I have been told by people that I met there and ideas that were inspired by my multiple travels there. 

The fiction part is a continuation from my first book, Bougie in New York, in which the main character, gossip columnist Tina West, has decided to go to South Korea when her life becomes comically complicated in New York.  She falls in love with Korea almost immediately and shares her adventure.

This book is filled with my photographs from Korea.  I thought that it would be a great way to show children what Korea is like.  I added text that would allow students to compare and contrast their communities to South Korea.  It is fun and informative and will inspire conversation, whether it’s from teachers with their students or parents with their children.  I have a degree in education and when I read this book to children, they were absolutely enthralled by the amazing information they learned about this country.  Many students wanted to research more about Korea and asked if they could go there.  This book is a great way to introduce this beautiful country.

This is the first book in the Life of Bougie Series!  It is a book of fiction which is infused with some of the experiences that I’ve had in New York City.  The main character is gossip columnist Tina West. 

Life of Bougie could be described as a combination of the writing styles of Erma Bombeck and Terry McMillan.

Tina West is a gossip columnist/writer who feels most of her experiences are based on two levels of interaction in the world: her identity as a black woman and her identity as an upper-middle class society woman. Sometimes those identities coexist peacefully and at other times, they are at odds in terms of society's reaction to her. Her family is made up of a group of ultraconservative, affluent professionals who can’t understand why Tina would leave her lucrative "real" career to become what they call a bohemian writer. This book deals with her childhood, her first jobs, and her rise to become a celebrity/well-known gossip columnist and writer.

Hollywood Men I Love #2 - Liev Schreiber!

Stylish women love stylish men!  Mr. Schreiber is wearing his designer suits well on his new show.

I love Liev Schreiber!  I love his new show Ray Donovan on Showtime!  It's like a wackier, twisted version of the Sopranos!

I met Mr. Schreiber while he was enjoying a triumphant stint on Broadway a few years ago. He looks exactly as handsome and tall as you see on the screen.  He seemed like he would be a bit of a "Prickly Bear", but I introduced him to a project he might be interested in, and my charm won him over!

I know the first season has just wrapped, but I didn't have time before this past week to really sit down and watch it from beginning to end. There are 12 episodes and they were worth my time.

So the past few days have allowed me to have a Ray Donovan marathon.  I have really liked the acting talents of Mr. Schreiber ever since I saw him in "A Walk on the Moon" with Viggo Mortensen and Diane Lane.  He was this big guy who could show deep emotional vulnerability.

He brings this same depth to the Ray Donovan character.  You don't realize how much until you see the final first season episode.

Ray Donovan is a Hollywood "fixer" guy.  He cleans up the messes and moral transgressions of the rich and famous.  He's not above beating someone up, secretly putting drugs in someone's system, or murder.

However, his home life is a mess as well.  His father is an ex-con who got out early.  He's played by acting heavyweight Jon Voight who makes you cringe and also feel sympathetic for this crazy and dangerous coot. Havoc ensues as soon as he steps back into the picture.

 The Donovans are Irish, but Mr. Donovan, Sr.  also fathered a child with a former African American girlfriend about 20 years ago and this child, Darryl,  is later introduced to his other family.  This child was one of the few visitors that Ray's father had while doing time, so there is quite a bond between them.

 Ray's wife, Abby, knows her husband is shady, including in the fidelity department, but she is steadfastly loyal and is also constantly snooping into her husband's business.

 

Ray has two brothers:Bunchy and Terry .  Bunchy had a traumatic childhood experience which has turned him him into an infantile, mental wreck.    The other brother has to deal with a physical disability due to a boxing match when he was younger.

Ray's two children also prove to be challenges for their parents due to their teenage angst and an awareness of their father's  work related proclivities.

We are introduced to a vast array of characters who will have you laughing, scowling, or both.

This show continued to surprise me all the way to the end.  On a personal note, I didn't mind the new sexiness of Mr. Schreiber.  He's in the best shape I have ever seen him in and in Episode 8, we are given a generous view of some of his physical assets.  I may have had to rewind that part a few times! ;-)

In any case, if you have Showtime on Demand, take some time to watch this unique series.  Try it!
