ANOTHER HOT COFFEE SHOP - PARIS BAGUETTE!!!!

IN CONNECTION TO MY FOND MEMORIES OF SOUTH KOREA, I GO TO A SHOP THAT I FIRST ENTERED IN THAT COUNTRY - PARIS BAGUETTE!

IT HAS THEIR VERSION OF THE CRONUT, WHICH I THINK THEY JUST CALL A CROISSANT DOUGHNUT.

AS THE NAME SUGGESTS, IT IS A FRENCH STYLE BAKERY WITH SOME KOREAN TWISTS.  THERE ARE TRADITIONAL TREATS, BUT THERE ARE SOME KOREAN FAVORITES LIKE SWEET BEAN PASTE ITEMS AND SHAVED ICE DESSERTS (WHEN IN SEASON).

WHEN I FIRST WENT TO SOUTH KOREA, I WOULD ALWAYS GO TO PARIS BAGUETTE FOR BREAKFAST AND STOP BY AFTER WORK TO GET MYSELF A TREAT.  WHEN I RETURNED TO AMERICA AND NEW YORK'S KOREA TOWN, I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND OUT THAT THERE WAS NOT A PARIS BAGUETTE!  A FEW YEARS LATER, MY PLACE ARRIVED HERE IN NEW YORK.  I HAVE BEEN FREQUENTING IT IN MANY PLACES AROUND THE CITY, AS THEY HAVE ADDED LOCATIONS IN THE PAST FEW YEARS.

THE OTHER LOCATION THAT I FIND VERY COZY IS THE ONE ON THE UPPER WEST SIDE.

I HAPPENED UPON IT BY ACCIDENT AND WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED.  IF YOU LOOK THROUGH THE WINDOW, YOU WOULD THINK THAT IT ONLY HAD A RETAIL SPACE WITHOUT A LOUNGE.  OH, NO!  YOU HAVE TO GO IN AND UP A SHORT FLIGHT OF STAIRS AND YOU WILL SEE A VERY NICE EATING LOUNGE SECTION THAT COULD MAKE YOU STAY FOR QUITE AWHILE. IT HAS MANY TABLES AND COUCHES.  I WAS SO COMFORTABLE THAT I LOST TRACK OF TIME!

JUST LIKE CAFFE BENE, IT HAS WONDERFUL DESSERTS, BEVERAGES (HOT AND COLD), AND SAVORY FOOD, LIKE SANDWICHES.

BABY IT'S COLD OUTSIDE! GO WARM UP AT CAFFE BENE!!!

I just found out that one of my favorite cafes, Caffe Bene, has a location uptown in Washington Heights!  I usually go to the Korea Town location.  I'm so happy there are so many choices in all different areas of town for this wonderful, relaxing cafe.

Why do I love Caffe Bene?  I love it because it has great coffee, tea, beverage, and dessert choices.

It has great pastry treats that are savory and sweet. I love the waffles!

It also has a really cool relaxed vibe.  I love to read, listen to music, and even do work there.

At the one in the theater district, they have books that you can read:

It's a great place to go with friends or on your own. It's a little peace in a wild and active city!

If you think it's a place you'd like to go then.....TRY IT!!!!!!

CHINESE LUNAR NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!

CHINESE DRAGON PARADE NEW YORK CITY

TODAY, MANY NEW YORK CITY SCHOOL CHILDREN HAVE THE DAY OFF FOR THE FIRST TIME BECAUSE OF THE CHINESE LUNAR NEW YEAR.

HERE IS A DESCRIPTION OF THE CHINESE NEW YEAR FROM WIKIPEDIA:
Chinese New Year is an important Chinese festival celebrated at the turn of the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar. It is also known as the Spring Festival, the literal translation of the modern Chinese name. Celebrations traditionally run from the evening preceding the first day, to the Lantern Festivalon the 15th day of the first calendar month. The first day of the New Year falls on the new moon between 21 January and 20 February.[2] In 2016, the first day of Chinese New Year falls on Monday, February 8th.[3]
The New Year festival is centuries old and gains significance because of several myths and traditions. Traditionally, the festival was a time to honour deitiesas well as ancestors.[4] Chinese New Year is celebrated in countries and territories with significant Chinese populations, including Mainland ChinaHong Kong,[5] MacauTaiwanSingapore,[6] ThailandCambodiaIndonesiaMalaysiaMauritius,[7] and the Philippines.[8][9] Chinese New Year is considered a major holiday for the Chinese and has had influence on the lunar new year celebrations of its geographic neighbours.
Within China, regional customs and traditions concerning the celebration of the Chinese New Year vary widely. Often, the evening preceding Chinese New Year's Day is an occasion for Chinese families to gather for the annual reunion dinner. It is also traditional for every family to thoroughly cleanse the house, in order to sweep away any ill-fortune and to make way for good incoming luck. Windows and doors will be decorated with red color paper-cuts and coupletswith popular themes of "good fortune" or "happiness", "wealth", and "longevity". Other activities include lighting firecrackers and giving money in red paper envelopes.
Although the Chinese calendar traditionally does not use continuously numbered years, outside China its years are often numbered from the reign of the 3rd millennium BCE Yellow Emperor. But at least three different years numbered 1 are now used by various scholars, making the year beginning CE 2015 the "Chinese year" 4713, 4712, or 4652.[10]

ALAN RICKMAN - MY HEART IS BROKEN!

I had the pleasure on many occasions to meet Alan Rickman.  He was always kind, but he still liked to play his persona of nonchalant apathy.  We had an inside joke:  Every time I met him, I would remind him that because of him, I saw the movie "Die Hard" over 18 times.  His stock response on cue:  "Oh, that is too much!" With his iconic snarl.  Everyone around us would laugh.  He played the character Hans Gruber. As per the legend, he was the one who made Hans into a sexy, sneaky, suit-wearing terrorist/master thief.  We pitched him about a project in which he would play the Devil.  When I asked him personally, he said that he didn't know if he wanted to play someone so evil (This coming from Snape!)  Well, now we'll never know.

My heart is broken.

Sleep well, Mr. Rickman.

LUKE EVANS SHOULD BE THE NEW JAMES BOND!!!

I AM A JAMES BOND FAN!!!!!!

I love Daniel Craig in the role!  However, it looks like he may be exiting the franchise.  So, who could be his successor?  Obviously, they would be very big shoes (and Speedo!) to fill. I think I have the perfect guy......LUKE EVANS!!!!

He's charming, suave, and sophisticated.  He's also an excellent actor, just like Daniel Craig.  When you want a Bond that can do more than smirk and churn out one-liners, you go to these rugged, sexy men.  You could believe Luke could do all of the fight scenes since he's had so much practice with the Hobbit movies he starred in and of course, his toothy turn in Dracula. He was so seductive!

Oh, have you seen the pictures in which he is wearing a Speedo on the beach?!  Ooh-la-la!  He fills out his suit quite admirably.  I am surprised they don't put a dot over his private area!

So, if you are with me, ask the producers of James Bond to ......TRY IT!!!
